Have you ever kicked off your shoes after a long day and thought, “Why do my feet hurt so much?”
You’re definitely not alone — and the good news is, there are often simple reasons (and even simpler solutions!).
At Peak Podiatry, we hear this question almost every day. So let’s break it down together: why it happens, what you can do at home, and when it’s time to get a little extra help.
Sounds obvious, right?
But standing or walking for long hours — especially on hard surfaces — puts a lot of pressure on your feet. Over time, all that standing can cause soreness, swelling, and even tiny injuries you might not notice at first.
👉 Tip: If you know you’ll be on your feet all day, wear cushioned, supportive shoes. And if you can, take short sitting breaks to give your feet a breather.
Shoes that are too flat, too tight, or just worn out can cause big problems.
Without enough support, your arches can collapse a little during the day, leading to heel pain, arch pain, or aching across the ball of your foot.
👉 Tip: Look for shoes with good arch support, a cushioned sole, and enough room for your toes to wiggle. Need extra help? We offer custom insoles right here at Peak Podiatry!
If your heel or arch is especially painful after being on your feet, you might have plantar fasciitis.
This happens when the band of tissue along the bottom of your foot gets irritated from too much stress.
👉 Tip: Gentle stretching, proper footwear, and professional treatment can make a huge difference. If it keeps nagging, we can help with a full treatment plan.
Not everyone’s feet are built the same — and that’s okay!
But flat feet or very high arches can sometimes lead to extra strain, making a normal day of standing feel like a marathon.
👉 Tip: A podiatrist (like us!) can assess your foot shape and recommend simple solutions like supportive insoles or special footwear.
Sometimes it’s not one big injury — it’s lots of tiny ones that add up.
Little things like mild tendonitis, strained muscles, or even a tiny stress fracture can cause aching, burning, or throbbing pain after a long day.
👉 Tip: Don’t ignore pain that keeps happening. Early treatment is quicker, easier, and helps you avoid bigger problems later on.
If you’re getting foot pain daily, if the pain is getting worse, or if you notice swelling, bruising, or numbness, it’s time to check in with a professional.
At Peak Podiatry, we’ll listen carefully, check what’s happening, and work with you to find a solution that fits your life — not just a quick fix.
